Pilot or Aeron

Reading many different books about management of programming teams you can often find a chapter or two about establishing a good developer’s work place to make him more happy and productive. Of course it starts from a powerful computer and a stable Internet connection and continues with tons of other things. But nothing makes development as comfortable as a good and cozy chair!

Unfortunately due to some good and bad reasons we did not pay much attention to it and considered buying every new chair as another chance to buy something simple and save the money. And that worked pretty well until Mr. Backache came and that was a really good reason to start thinking about upgrade.

In the world of office chairs the standards are set by a well-known praiseworthy Aeron (http://www.hermanmiller.com/Products/Aeron-Chairs) by Herman Miller, the king of all office chairs; but here in Ukraine it costs a fortune, probably twice as high as in US. So unfortunately it was not an option and we decided to start looking for something less expensive yet cool.

After months of searching and trying we run across a Pilot chair which definitely looked like an extramarital Ukrainian son of Aeron. Not so famous, doesn’t look as nice and is not so adjustable as Aeron, but luckily does not cost like half a car. After spending some more time of reading numerous reviews we decided to buy one and absolutely did not regret about it.

Now, even although the Pilot is not so expensive, we still can not afford to replace our existing chairs altogether, so decided to buy 1-2 chairs per month and draw them among our developers. Hopefully, soon all of us will enjoy these nice chairs

6 Pilots have been bought. 12 are still on the way
